Annie's Girl Based on a True Story
Annie was illiterate. Her daughter Shirley was illegitimate, born in her grandfather’s house beside the tracks in Lewisporte, Newfoundland. The year was 1946 and the war was over. Confederation with Canada was on the horizon. Trains traversed the island, since there were few roads. Tuberculosis and polio, poverty and isolation were hallmarks of the times.
This is the story of a child who strove by faith and courage to overcome her circumstances.
